He graduated in Physics from St. Joseph’s College in Tiruchirappalli and later pursued aerospace engineering at the Madras Institute of Technology (MIT). Dr. Kalam’s professional career began in 1962 when he joined the Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR), led by Dr. Vikram Sarabhai. However, his most notable achievements came in the field of missile technology, where he spearheaded the development of the Agni and Prithvi missiles, earning him the title "Missile Man of India." Dr. Kalam's work played a crucial role in strengthening India's defense capabilities.
